El Niu, 'the Nest' in Catalan, Andorra’s pioneering Passivhaus Plus residential building, is designed by Antoni Martí, developed by Lluis Lopez Castro, and certified by Oliver Style of Praxis Resilient Buildings.

Situated at 1275 meters elevation, it comprises 11 units over four floors, totaling 1292 m². The building employs Pichler PKOM 4 heat pump units for comprehensive climate control. Its facade features a combination of Knauf Insulation’s Passivhaus External Wall System and Arcelor Mittal’s Archisol and Promisol systems. With a 37.7 kWp solar PV array, El Niu aims to cover 91% of its energy use, achieving near net-zero status and reducing CO2 emissions to 5976 kg annually.
