BUILDING CONVERSATIONS UP WITH... Julie Kjestrup, President of EuroACE and Vice-Chair of the Renovate Europe Campaign. Head of Policy and Thought Leadership, EU and Global at VELUX.

Julie Kjestrup has been the President of EuroACE since January 2023 and the Vice-Chair of the Renovate Europe Campaign since January 2022. She is also Head of Policy and Thought Leadership for VELUX. Prior to that, she was Head of EU Affairs and interim Global Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Danfoss. Julie also headed the Brussels Energy and Environment practice at APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs and strategic communication agency. Julie has extensive experience working on all aspects of advocacy and stakeholder engagement and has witnessed first-hand, and contributed to, the rise of energy efficiency on the European policy agenda over the past few years.

PLURAL Project: Fire testing

The PLURAL project successfully performed fire testing of the innovative smart window with heat harvesting capacity: the research tests were performed at the National technical university of Athens premises with the presence of BGTec, the window developer, and AMS, the SmartWall prefabricated kit manufacturer that integrates the smart window.

María López Zambrano: "The building that has no use ends up being lost"

BUILDING CONVERSATIONS UP WITH... María López Zambrano, Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Energy Research Centre (IERC) Tyndall/UCC/MaREI.

Dr María López Zambrano has a PhD in Construction Technology and her thesis focussed on developing an Evaluation System for retrofitting solutions for saving energy in Historic Buildings. She is an expert in Building Energy Simulation and a Certified Passive House Designer.

She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Energy Research Centre (IERC) Tyndall/UCC/MaREI. With a degree in Building Engineering, a MSc. in Energy Efficiency and Passivhaus, and a PhD in Construction Technology, she is currently working at the IERC in the coordination team of the H2020 MINISTOR project and is a member of the executive board (Heritage & Regeneration) of The European Construction, built environment and energy-efficient building Technology Platform (ECTP). She is also involved in The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) as a committee member at the national TC/40 (Retrofit of existing dwellings) and the European CEN/TC 371 - Energy Performance of Buildings.

Hosted by BUILD UP, the INCREAS project (Innovation and Creative Solutions for Cultural Heritage) organises a webinar titled "Skills enhancement needed for Energy Efficient Historic Buildings”. Architectural innovation in collective housing in Barcelona

The Edificio Londres, a residential building in Barcelona, is an example of architectural innovation and where a variety of energy saving concepts can be applied. A holistic energy concept, which was then elaborated in a coherent design, combining innovative and low-tech features, has been applied.
