New study highlights the need for deep energy renovation of EU buildings
A new study emphasises the need for industrialised energy renovations in EU buildings, using Key Performance Indicators to assess cost, sustainability, and user satisfaction, with a focus on achieving nearly zero-energy buildings.
A recent study by Universitat Politècnica de València and INPERSO project partners highlights the urgent need for deep energy renovations in the EU’s building stock, which consumes 40% of energy.
The research focuses on the role of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in assessing energy renovations. Key areas include economic (cost-efficiency), environmental (health-focused comfort), energy (efficiency and renewable sources), and technological/social (user satisfaction).
Despite challenges like performance gaps and administrative hurdles, the study advocates for industrialised renovations, including prefabrication and smart systems, to achieve nearly zero-energy buildings and a sustainable future for the EU.
