HEAT PUMPS SKILLS FOR NZEB CONSTRUCTION

HP4ALL focused on developing the specialized skills required across the entire heat pump value chain, to ensure high-quality installations and optimal energy performance. By creating a standardized Competency Framework and a comprehensive digital Knowledge Hub, the initiative successfully trained and upskilled technical professionals across EU. The project effectively bridged the gap between supply and demand, equipping installers with advanced technical competencies while empowering end-users to recognize and request highly skilled workmanship.

Key usable outputs and tools:

  • Digital heat pump benchmarking tools: Three interactive web apps developed from scratch and hosted on the project's servers. The Irish app integrates with national databases to calculate annual running costs; the Austrian app calculates in-situ Coefficient of Performance (COP) via a color-coded slider; and the Spanish app uses a custom algorithm integrating seasonal climate zone data.
  • Cross-border competency mapping matrix: A newly developed, standalone visualization tool that explicitly defines 26 distinct technical and digital skill indicators required for heat pump professionals. It serves as an open-access blueprint for training centers to structure new certification curricula.
  • HP4All Digital Knowledge Hub: A newly launched multi-language online portal structured into distinct "Non-Residential" and "Residential" technical repositories. It contains direct download libraries for technical guidance, contract templates, and commissioning check-lists.
  • Renewable process heat technical guide: A concrete, comprehensive handbook published by the project team containing structured technical guidelines and 12 documented case studies focused on mid-to-large scale industrial heat pump integrations.
  • On-demand webinar library: A newly recorded and centralized video repository consisting of 14 professional installer upskilling webinars and an 8-part homeowner equipment handover series, fully available for open-access learning
