BUSGOCIRCULAR new

Stimulate demand for sustainable energy skills with circularity as a driver and multifunctional green use of roofs, façades and interior elements as focus

BUS-GoCircular aimed to overcome the challenges of implementing circular economy practices in the construction sector by developing a comprehensive, cross-craft qualification framework focused entirely on circular skills. The project successfully equipped hundreds of professionals and SMEs with essential green competencies through targeted mentoring and practical, hands-on training programs. The project offers open-access "Train-the-Trainer" materials, practical toolkits, and modular training units specifically designed to help workers integrate circularity into everyday building and renovation projects.

Key usable outputs and tools:

  • Open-access national training packs: A localized digital library of cost-effective, ready-to-use training modules customized for SMEs and building professionals. These packages are fully adapted into local languages and specific market contexts for the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Czechia, Spain, Hungary, and Croatia.
  • Game module: A newly developed, interactive gamified e-learning module focused on circular construction skills. It was designed from scratch by the consortium and integrated directly into the existing BUILD UP Skills Advisor smartphone application to allow hands-on, self-paced micro-learning for on-site professionals.
  • Integrated RE10 & TURIA circular design apps: A unified suite of digital assessment tools developed under the Spanish pilot. The RE10 tool evaluates a residential building’s disassembly capacity, flexibility, and resource adaptation after renovation based on ISO 20887:2020, while the TURIA engine instantly generates customized environmental project reports tracking toxicity and reuse potential.
  • Circularity games platform: A dynamic online, gamified training portal developed in cooperation with Circle Economy. It features integrated interactive e-learning paths tailored for SMEs, policymakers, and public procurers to introduce circular economy practices and identify market opportunities.
  • 2B collective circularity simulation: A collaborative digital training game designed for construction centers to facilitate live, interactive group learning regarding circular building strategies and green logistics management.
  • Train-the-trainer and mentoring guides: Standalone operational manuals providing structured methodologies, curriculum templates, and pedagogical plans to help educational institutes establish long-term circular construction training lines.
