BUILD UP Skills. The construction sector towards 2030

Construye 2030 aimed to prepare the Spanish construction sector for upcoming NZEB and deep renovation challenges by revamping its national skills strategy. The project successfully engaged key industry stakeholders to identify critical shortages in green and digital competencies across the workforce. Today, professionals and training centers can utilize the project's comprehensive roadmap and status quo analysis to implement targeted, high-quality upskilling initiatives tailored to the Spanish market.

Key usable outputs and tools:

  • Red Construye collaboration platform: A newly launched web portal designed to host a collaborative network of building professionals. The platform features 4 dedicated working groups (Energy Efficiency, Digitalization, Circular Economy, and Sector Attractiveness) where training centers can access shared technical resources, policy news, and interactive market surveys.
  • National training roadmap 2030: A comprehensive, field-tested master roadmap that outlines precise deployment schedules and monitoring indicators spanning from 2024 to 2030. It features structured operational sheets detailing exactly how to roll out, finance, and monitor targeted qualification programs across Europe.
  •  Blue-collar circular & renovation training packages: A collection of modular curriculum designs and teaching guidelines tailored for operators and site tradespeople. It provides ready-to-use training layouts for "On-site assembly of industrialized systems" , "Efficient building dismantling techniques" , and "Construction site waste management".
  • White-collar advanced decarbonization syllabi: A structured educational framework and technical syllabus designed for building architects, engineers, and site managers. This module delivers course structures on "Building-scale Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)" , "Urban regeneration & nature-based solutions" , and "Regulatory updates on global warming potential indicators".
  • Vocational and guidance support toolkits: A specialized set of educational support materials composed of fresh teaching methodologies tailored for sustainable construction instructors , along with specialized career counseling resource sheets designed to help academic advisers attract youth and women to green building trades.
